-------------------------------------------------------------------- SEMINAR OF THE DYNAMICAL SYSTEMS GROUP Institute for Computational Sciences and Informatics -------------------------------------------------------------------- Solid State and Surface Chemical Science & Technology at the Office of Naval Research John C. Pazik Program Officer ONR Solid State and Surface Chemistry S&T Solid State and Surface Chemistry is truly a multi-disciplinary field. The ONR program includes participation from members of the chemistry, physics, electronics, and engineering communities. The ONR program is an integrated science and technology effort where Navy needs and technologies are drivers for the basic science supported. This presentation will describe, in broad terms, the technology areas in which the solid state and surface chemistry program has interest. The basic science approaches used to meet the technology challenges will be outlined and current research efforts will be described. Topics which will be broadly discussed include thermoelectric materials, interfaces to superconductors, and ultra-thin film deposition processes. These topics impact technology areas of thermal management, detectors & sensors, and communications. Monday , March 6, 1995 5:30 pm Room 206, Science & Tech.
