-------------------------------------------------------------------- COLLOQUIUM OF THE COMPUTATIONAL MATERIALS SCIENCE CENTER AND THE SCHOOL OF PHYSICS, ASTRONOMY, & COMPUTATIONAL SCIENCES (CSI 898-Sec 001) -------------------------------------------------------------------- Intense ultrashort pulse laser-Xe cluster interaction Jack Davis Plasma Physics Division, Naval Research Laboratory Washington, DC The dynamics describing the interaction of an intense ultrashort laser pulse with a collection of Xe clusters is presented to investigate the creation of inner shell holes to test the feasibility of creating population inversions and gain within the M-shell of highly ionized xenon. The model couples a molecular dynamics treatment of the explosively-driven, non-Maxwellian cluster expansion to a comprehensive multiphoton-radiative ionization dynamic model including single- and double-hole state production within the Co- and Fe-like ionization stages of xenon. September 24, 2012 4:30 pm Room 301, Research I, Fairfax Campus Refreshments will be served at 4:15 PM. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Find the schedule at http://www.cmasc.gmu.edu/seminars.htm
